  • Increasing muscle fiber recruitment - When you start, you will only be able to lower yourself partially until you suddenly just fall. This is because of a safety mechanism built into our bodies to protect the muscle fiber. When the load gets too high, it simply shuts off. This is where assistance bands can help. By using bands, you can decrease the load on your hamstrings until you are able to lower yourself fully controlled until your chest touches the floor. Full range of motion achieved at a load close to your one-rep-max (1RM) is proven to get you stronger faster.
  • Increased frequency of training - Training intensity is high when either the weight or repetition range for a given workout is large. Traditional Nordic Curl training starts you with a weight that is probably 150% of your 1RM. This is a very high intensity which makes it hard to train more than 1-2 times per week with maybe only 3-6 partial reps per session. No wonder it takes years for people to get their first strict Nordic Curl. Using bands to decrease the load allows you to start training at 70% of your 1RM which would be more normal for a strength program. The lower intensity allows you to train 3-5 times per week, getting you to your goals faster.
  • Time under tension - nordPak allows for tempo training which is a method in which you slow down or pause a movement. This can be done during the eccentric or concentric portion of the movement (or both) and is an excellent tool for increasing muscle fiber recruitment.
  • Progressive overload - Training by slowly increasing the stimulus of a given movement over time is a safe and effective way of building strength. Resistance bands coupled with the nordPak make it very easy to decrease the amount of assistance over time as your hamstrings become stronger.
